DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE CITY’S 2022 BUDGET CALENDAR APPROVAL OF THE 2022 BUDGET CALENDAR
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The City conducts its budgeting and financial reporting through an annual cycle of events and actions. The attached Budget Calendar details the 2022 annual cycle. The 2022 proposed calendar includes two additional public meetings on the budget; one in the form of a community workshop and the other an early meeting with the Budget and Finance Commission, that would occur in advance of the City Manager’s preparation and delivery of the FY 2022-23 Budget to the City Council. These meetings are included to give the community and commission an opportunity to help inform the City Manager’s budget recommendations rather than simply react to the annual May budget proposal.
BACKGROUND
Staff has developed the attached 2022 Budget Calendar to communicate significant dates related to the current FY 2021-22 Budget as well as the process for the preparation of the FY 2022-23 Budget.
The calendar also reflects the timing of the City’s strategic planning meetings and follow-up updates, overall budget outreach efforts, various Commission and Audit Committee reviews and discussions, and the dates for City Council budget meetings and hearings.
COORDINATION
The 2022 Budget Calendar was prepared by the Financial Services Department in coordination with the City Manager’s Office.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost of this activity is included in the City’s annual budget and is part of the Financial Services Department and City Manager’s Office regular work plans.
