AWARD AN AGREEMENT TO RAINVILLE DESIGN STUDIO TO PROVIDE DESIGN SERVICES
FOR THE CIVIC CENTER LANDSCAPING IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT FOR A COST NOT TO EXCEED $17,250.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Approval of this item would award an agreement for development of a landscaping plan for the Civic Center central courtyard and Library walkway improvements project funded as part of the FY 2021- 22 budget. The design services, to be provided by Rainville Design Studio, would be at a cost not to exceed $17,250.
BACKGROUND
As part of the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 budget approval, the City Council appropriated $60,000 for a Civic Center landscape improvements project. The project, as envisioned, will include the design and implementation of a complete renovation of the landscaping in the central courtyard area of the Civic Center as well as the planter space along the walkway that is adjacent to the Main Library.
In order to advance the project, staff obtained a proposal from Rainville Design Studio to provide design services, including preparation of:
- A water-wise landscaping master plan,
- A materials plan,
- Irrigation and lighting system plans, and necessary
- Construction (plans & specifications) documents
Rainville Design Studio is a local firm and has extensive experience in providing the desired services.
The company has developed landscape plans for both private and public developments in the South Bay for more than 20 years.
COORDINATION
The Public Works Department coordinated this item.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost to provide design services for the Civic Center Landscaping Improvements Project would not exceed $17,250. Funding for the design services agreement is available in the $60,000 General Fund appropriation allocated to the Public Works Department as part of the FY 2021-22 operating
