A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA,
AMENDING THE CIVIL PENALTIES FOR PARKING
VIOLATIONS
WHEREAS, the State of California under California Vehicle Code 40203.5(a), regulates the assignment of penalty fees for parking citations and states: “The schedule of parking penalties for parking violations and late payment penalties shall be established by the governing body of the jurisdiction where the notice of violation is issued. To the extent possible, issuing agencies within the same county shall standardize parking penalties.”; and WHEREAS, the City of Redondo Beach ("City") has the authority to establish civil penalties for parking violations; and
WHEREAS, the civil penalties for parking violations shall be set by resolution of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish a civil penalty of $50 for a vehicle not using the electric vehicle charging station to charge the vehicle while parked in an electric vehicle only parking space.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Redondo Beach hereby amends the civil penalties for parking violations to include a civil penalty of $50 for citations issued for a vehicle not using the electric vehicle charging station to charge the vehicle while parked in an electric vehicle only parking space, as provided in Redondo Beach Municipal Code section 3-
6.10. SECTION 2. Amended fees under this resolution shall be effective April 1, 2022.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and shall enter the same in the Book of Original Resolutions.
