Request for Use of Redondo Beach Historic Library
Dear Mayor Brand and City Council Members:
We are writing to formally request the use of the Redondo Beach Historic Library for the CA 101 2022 Art Exhibition.
CA 101 2022, a Friends of Redondo Beach Arts (FRBA) signature event, would be held over three weekends, opening September 2, 2022 to coincide with Redondo’s Labor Day festivities. This would be our ninth annual curated juried exhibition, celebrating works of art and craft from local, state, national and international artists. FRBA, a non-profit organization, has always provided this exhibition free of charge as our gift to the community, enriching the lives of residents, businesses and visitors.
The Historic Library is the perfect venue to house the CA 101 2022 Art Exhibition and this beautiful location should easily draw our typical thousands of visitors from throughout Southern California, the Greater Los Angeles area and the South Bay to the Historic Library and surrounding businesses, hotels and restaurants. In the past, local businesses have recorded a 10% increase in revenues during our exhibition.

After being dormant for the past two years due to COVID, we are very excited to collaborate with the City to bring our art exhibition back to Redondo Beach.
With regard to the use of the premises, FRBA has the appropriate insurance to support our exhibition and hold the City harmless from any liability during our occupancy. We anticipate no construction requirements or alterations to the premises with only minor cosmetic modifications such as painting some interior walls and bringing in modular display platforms. We would maintain and protect the property and return it to the City in its original condition.
In order to create the exhibition, we would need exclusive use of the premises from August 22, 2022 through September 22, 2022. This time period includes set up, exhibition days and clean-up. We will also need access for design team and artist walkthroughs on or about March 26, 2022 and April 16, 2022.
