A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING
EXECUTION OF A FISCAL YEAR 2021-2022 AQUATIC
CENTER GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE CALIFORNIA
DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, DIVISION
OF BOATING AND WATERWAYS, FOR THE FUNDING OF
SAILING PROGRAM STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS AND
BOATING SAFETY EDUCATION, EQUIPMENT, AND
REPAIRS IN THE AMOUNT OF $20,374
WHEREAS, the City of Redondo Beach (“City”) conducts classes in sailing instruction and boating safety; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways, has made available $20,374 for the City to fund student scholarships and boating safety education, equipment and repairs; and WHEREAS, the California Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways, requires that the City enter into a Fiscal Year 2021-2022 Aquatic Center Grant Agreement (“Grant Agreement”); and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways, requires that the City authorize the Grant Agreement by resolution; and
WHEREAS, Section 8.3, Article VIII of the City Charter authorizes the Mayor to sign all contracts on behalf of the City; and
WHEREAS, due to this provision in the City Charter, a resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign the Grant Agreement is not required; and
WHEREAS, the California Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways, requires that the City pass a resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign the Grant Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the attached Grant Agreement is hereby approved and the Mayor of the City of Redondo Beach is hereby authorized to execute the agreement.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution, shall enter the same in the Book of Original Resolutions.
