Subject: Bid Protest Response
Dear City of Redondo Beach,
Regarding the Bid Protest about self-performance requirements from Sully-Miller for Beryl Street Drainage and Street Improvements Project from North Prospect Avenue to Flagler Lane – Job No. 41130, PaveWest has made two clerical errors:
1. PaveWest listed the subcontractor proposal costs and included 5% profit to our estimated amounts. This was listed in the “Designation of Subcontractors” form and should have reflected an estimated amount for each subcontractor at 5% less (Exhibit A).
2. PaveWest included the concrete portion of work in TTS Engineering Inc’s total estimated amount. TTS will only be performing the storm drain scope of work. We are self-performing the concrete and traffic control scope of work. PaveWest is performing 51% of the total contract amount. The subcontractors listed are performing the remaining 49% of the work. If we considered the clerical errors, then the subcontractors would have been performing 82% of the work which is not per specification (Exhibit B).
Please review the attached exhibits for complete details of the clerical errors. PaveWest self-performs all aspects of our General Engineering Contractor’s license with our own asphalt, concrete, and striping divisions. PaveWest apologizes for the clerical errors and appreciates the opportunity to resolve the matter and we look forward to working with the City of Redondo Beach. Thank you.
