BACKGROUND
Leadership Redondo is an exploratory program, designed to bring individuals from the civic, business and general community together to help enhance and strengthen Redondo Beach. The program runs two years. The first ten to twelve months of the program are devoted primarily to a curriculum of intensive study about Redondo Beach's resources, vital issues and local government operations.
During the last twelve months, the group completes a class project to enhance the livability and wellness of the community.
The Leadership Redondo Class of 2021 has proposed a class project to provide façade and amenity upgrades to the pallet shelter located on Kingsdale Avenue in north Redondo Beach. The attached project proposal includes the following key elements at the site:
· Updating the pallet shelter appearance by painting them with new colors (color pallet includes neutral blues, grays and beige.)
· Procuring and installing site amenities including new tables, seating, and a gazebo for shade. · Donating provisions for resident use including comforters, bath towels and caddies, and door mats.
The Leadership Redondo class met on site with Harbor Interfaith - who manage the facility - and City staff to review the project for compatibility with the facility’s general maintenance and operations.
Harbor Interfaith and City personnel both agree that the proposed project elements are feasible and beneficial to the site and the pallet shelter residents.
