TITLE
APPROVE AN AGREEMENT WITH ARDURRA GROUP, INC. FOR INSPECTION SERVICES FOR

THE INGLEWOOD AVENUE AT MANHATTAN BEACH BOULEVARD INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS (SOUTHBOUND RIGHT TURN LANE) PROJECT, JOB NO. 40960, FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $62,400 FOR THE TERM JULY 19, 2022 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2022

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
With approval of this contract, Ardurra Group, Inc. (“Ardurra”) will perform daily inspection and construction reporting services for the Inglewood Avenue at Manhattan Beach Boulevard Intersection Improvements (Southbound Right Turn Lane) Project, Job No. 40960 (“Project”).

These inspection services will help ensure all requirements of the Project plans and specifications are met and that the Project is completed in a timely, safe, and professional manner. The City solicited proposals to identify an engineering firm to perform these services. Ardurra responded and provided a proposal that offered the best combination of price, experience, and expertise. Funding for the agreement is included in the Project budget.

BACKGROUND
On April 13, 2021, the City Council approved the project plans and specifications and authorized the City Clerk to advertise the project for competitive bids. The project was advertised on April 29, 2021, and five (5) bids were received and publicly opened on June 3, 2021. After reviewing the bids, All American Asphalt, with a bid of $934,948 was found to be the lowest responsible bidder. On June 15, 2022, the City awarded a public works contract to All American Asphalt. Construction is expected to begin in August and to be completed within ninety (90) working days.

In order to provide daily inspection and construction reporting services for upcoming construction efforts, City staff solicited proposals from qualified engineering firms for the Project. As mentioned above, Ardurra was found to have the best combination of experience, price and reference in relation to roadway resurfacing, street, and traffic signal projects.

The contract with Ardurra will help ensure that the Project is completed according to the City’s specifications, on time, and in a safe and professional manner. The total not-to-exceed amount of the contract is $62,400 for the term July 19, 2022 - December 31, 2022.
