To: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
From: BRANDY FORBES, COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
TITLE

APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH BUREAU VERITAS NORTH AMERICA, INC. FOR PLAN CHECK REVIEW SERVICES OF THE GALLERIA RENOVATION AND TENANT IMPROVEMENT PROJECT FOR AN ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF $55,000 FOR A NEW TOTAL NOT TO EXCEED OF $70,000

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Galleria has submitted drawings for the renovation and tenant improvement phase of the existing mall building. The Community Development Department solicited quotes from existing contract plan check consultants to complete the review. Bureau Veritas was selected based on the company’s qualifications and the overall cost.

BACKGROUND
The Galleria has entitlements for redevelopment of the property, including renovation of the existing mall, and future development of additional commercial, office space, hotel, and residential units.

They have submitted drawings for plan check review of the mall renovation phase. Based on the scope, contracted plan check results in the most expedient and efficient method for reviewing the plans.

On February 9, 2021, the City Council approved contracts with six plan check consulting firms, to provide expedited plan review of projects. After a request for cost quotes from the contracted firms, Bureau Veritas has been selected to perform plan check review based on qualifications and overall cost of $54,900. The proposed amendment to increase the contract by $55,000 will cover the costs of the Galleria plan check and leave funding for other plan check services as previously approved.

COORDINATION
The contract amendment has been coordinated with the City Attorney’s Office.

FISCAL IMPACT
Funding for the plan check review is included as part of the adopted operating budget for the Community Development Department. Revenues from plan check fees paid by the applicant offset all costs for contracted plan check review.
