SUBJECT: Public Works Commission Recommendations for Strategic Plan Mayor Brand and City Council Members,
The Public Works Commission unanimously requests City Council consideration of the two items for incorporation into the imminent Strategic Plan update. The Public Works Commission considers these recommended items to be time critical and vital for the City.
1. Proactively review SWITRS accident data to identify problematic intersections in the City, highlighting pedestrian, bicycle and other non auto-centric crashes; and
2. Support carrying over to next 6-months strategic plan the current Goal 3: Increase Environmental Sustainability, strategic priority 10 Environmental Advisory Body: Report on options for advising the City on environmental issues through either expansion of an existing commission or creation of a new commission.
In addition to supporting the strategic priority and potential creation of a new commission, the Public Works Commission volunteers to accept the addition of advising on environmental issues to its duties and responsibilities.
The Commission would like to thank the Council in advance for its earnest consideration of our recommendations.
