I urge the city to replace diagonal curb cuts on fast-moving arterials to double curb cuts that align with crosswalks. This will shorten crossing lengths and keep wheelchair and walker users out of a low-point (gravitational well). It will also make the crossing direction of rollers more obvious to turning motorists.
I can't help but wonder if Ciara Smith would still be with us if the curb ramp aligned with the crosswalk so that she didn't have to dart out into PCH traffic.
NO MORE BLOOD SACRIFICES of our children and elders. Install double curb ramps that align with crosswalks.

I hope these will be electric vehicles. We should not be contributing to the worsening of global heating; we should be acting as examples and doing everything in our power to mitigate it.

The Redondo Beach City Council is playing fast and loose with the Brown Act and the public’s right to participate in government decisions. There is the distinct smell of corruption in the air, recalling shades of the City of Bell.
In the last few months, a majority voting bloc of Redondo Beach Councilmembers Obagi, Nehrenheim and Loewenstein, arguably violated the Brown Act’s public participation laws when they changed agenda items late at night and voted without notice to the public. In one case, they voted to expend more than $270,000 of taxpayer funds for a special election that was unagendized, unnecessary, and only benefited their crony councilman Zein Obagi. The intent was to confuse the recall of the negligent Obagi with the Cannabis issue. Before the vote, both the City Clerk and the City Attorney warned of the violations. Residents should have had notice and an opportunity to comment before these decisions were made.
Recently, the League of Women Voters called out the blatant effort to confuse voters with an open letter rebuking the Council’s actions. On September 13, the City Council received a letter from the Fraud and Corruption Bureau of the LA District Attorney, pointing to the two meetings in June and July, and claiming the Council violated the spirit of the Brown Act, arguably violating the law by ignoring the right of the people to participate in their government.
Yet, these men, Obagi, Nehrenheim and Loewenstein, who play fast and loose with our democratic process, voted tonight to give the CIty Council an 80% raise - to pay them more than any other comparably sized City.
Ignoring the concept of public service, they whined about how hard it is for them. Those who are called to public service for the right reasons are not looking at the pay. These same men have expressed their intent to sell our Fire Department to L.A. County, and they have created a commission that is working to dismantle the historic protections, checks and balances that Redondo Beach residents have in place such as the elected offices of city attorney and city clerk.
Residents should beware. We’ve seen it before: this is how corruption begins in City government.

I had a chance to listen to another Metro Board meeting, they still have not had the Greenline on their agenda yet there’s always useful information to gather.
Themes presented advocate for healthy and sustainable communities, plus economic empowerment for all residents, communities, and users in the corridor. Big focus on:
Quality of life
Collaborative strategies
They outline two guiding principles:
Guiding Principle of Equity
Strive to rectify past harms; eliminate disparities in project processes, outcomes, and community results.
“The plan seeks to elevate and engrain the Principle of Equity across all goals, objectives, strategies, and actions through a framework of Procedural, Distributive, Structural and Restorative Equity, and by prioritizing an accessible and representative participation process for communities most impacted.”
Guiding Principle of Sustainability:
Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising future generations.
A commitment to satisfy and improve basic social, health, and economic needs/conditions, both present and future, which leads to:
Torrance Meeting with Metro
Torrance’s position hasn’t changed, they only offer residents an opportunity to click a QR code to “affirm their support for the ROW alignment”. Their slide show presentation was full of misinfo.
Metro broke it to them the Olympics deadline can’t happen. No mention that cost factor and construction timing is not in line with Torrance’s wishes.
Torrance’s new Transportation Committee (cm’s Matucci, Kaji and Sheikh) share a more realistic POV acknowledging 2 other cities involved and bringing up a solution. They carefully introduce the concept to city and staff that they can empathize with us. This project is meant to last a century so it needs to be done right. Kaji has no qualms about seeking additional funding from the feds, he advocated for Little Tokyo successfully. They added a completely underground alternative to their preference letter.
Lawndale is getting lots of face time w/various Board members to affirm demands for either alternative. Let's do the same, no need to compromise our position of No ROW, yes Hawthorne.

I believe recall elections are a waste of time and money. I also believe having an election two weeks before the general election is a waste of time and money. We should align our elections. SB 415 was well intentioned. 43K Redondo residents voted in the November 2020 national election but only 14K voted in our city election on March 2, 2021. If we don’t align our elections, we are disenfranchising the majority of Redondo Beach voters.

I strongly support an all-way stop at Huntington and Blossom. The traffic goes east on Huntington and there is low visibility when looking left/north on Blossom, making it hard to see cross traffic, especially because there is parking on the east side of the street. It has been an issue for quite some time, and now there is a new fence at the corner house, making it even more difficult to see. You have to inch your car into the oncoming traffic to see if anyone is coming, then back up or hope they slow down for you. And for people and children crossing the street on the way to school, it is a very difficult situation.
I also support all-way stop at Huntington and Rindge. Huntington is a highly used walking and biking route to get to Adams Middle School (avoiding Grant), and these two intersections are the most dangerous due to the cross traffic. Please help parents of middle school students to feel safe giving their children the independence to walk to school. There are multitudes of benefits to this including cutting down traffic, helping our environment, and giving our kids independence, exercise and fresh air.
This neighborhood is full of young kids. Please make it safe to continue to live here.

I strongly support the all-way stop at Clark and Harkness. We purchased our home back in August 2021 and noticed that cars that go down our street are going way over the speed limit. We have three kids of my own and the 1700 & 1800 block is full of other Birney, Jefferson, Adams and Union kids. It's just not safe to walk, bike or drive when approaching that intersection. On Clark there is incline/decline on the block and I'm guessing that might contribute to speed going down and up the street too. There was a terrible bike versus car accident at this corner and was very likely lived. Note this is also the only portion of Clark that is two way street and is a main cut through to get to/from Ford. Add the new two story homes on the North East corner that are being built and crossing Harkness has become even more dangerous. You have to inch out 2-4 feet in order to see cars drving west towards clark to safe crossly. Please pass this request as I do not want to see another person get hurt .

I support an all-way stop at Huntington and Blossom. The traffic goes east on Huntington and there is low visibility when looking left/north on Blossom, making it hard to see cross traffic. Furthermore, Blossom has parking on the east side, which means the southbound lane runs right against the curb and makes it dangerous to inch out into the intersection to see traffic coming from the north.
I also support all-way stop at Huntington and Rindge. Huntington is a highly used walking and biking route to get to Adams Middle School (avoiding Grant), and these two intersections are the most dangerous due to the cross traffic. We should build our roads to favor these bikers and walkers, keep them safe, and help parents of middle school students to feel safe giving their children the independence to walk to school Victoria Nguyen

I strongly support putting all-way stop signs at Huntington-Blossom and Huntington-Rindge. My school-age children have been crossing these intersections to go to school/bus stops almost everyday. Traffic is heavy and aggressive, especially at Huntington-Rindge, during morning rush hours when the kids need to get to school.

I am writing to voice strong support for putting an all way stop sign at the intersection of Huntington and Blossom.
As indicated by the administrative report, a fence has been put up in the front and side yards of the residence at the northwestern corner of the intersection. As a result, it has become much more difficult to see oncoming traffic on Blossom. I do not feel safe crossing this intersection, as the line of sight has become limited and I have to pull my car further out into the intersection to see traffic. I would strongly urge the Council to adopt an all way stop at this intersection.

I support the city council taking a formal stance against Measure E.
In addition, I ask that Council member Laura Emdee be recused from any discussion on Measure E. Her personal engagement outside of the city council chambers with Catalyst Cannabis owner Elliot Lewis is at best questionable and likely, as most residents are saying, effectuated the recall special election that has cost the city hundreds of thousands of dollars.
All anyone needs to do is look at Laura Emdee’s website. www.LauraEmdee.com
It leads directly to the Long Beach pot dealer’s Catalyst company website.
Please demand Council member Emdee recuse herself from any further discussion on cannabis related issues before the city council.
