Dear City Clerk,
I am writing as best I understand a direction I just got from NIls Nehrenheim, 2 things:
1) I'd like my comment read on item N.4
2) Mayor pro tem asked me to send the attached letter. Please pass it along to him.

Thank you,

Please accept this letter as our official statement of our preferred Alternative alignment for Metro’s C-Line (Green) Extension to Torrance. As we shall detail below, the elevated Hawthorne Blvd. alignment is the most most equitably responsible route through the Hawthorne Blvd. business district. Ridership is key to the success of mass transit, and this route best delivers riders to the destinations that attract them. There are no “destinations” on the ROW. Ridership will also be maximized for the new residents of the soon to be built high-density residential units and hotel at the South Bay Galleria site, as well as those in the immediate surrounding areas that also include North Torrance and Lawndale.

Located along Hawthorne Blvd., the C Line would provide an attractive mass transit option to a wide cross-section of South Bay residents at the redeveloped South Bay Galleria site, into the South Bay job centers along Hawthorne Blvd, and to Torrance.

Torrance employers will also benefit as the C-Line would be better positioned to deliver workers to Torrance job centers from the high-density residential projects at and near the Galleria site which will be built and inhabited by the time the C-Line is functional.

With the ROW option, taking the C Line to LAX, or to the above-mentioned job centers would be less attractive to potential riders as the ROW station there is not on an easy to find major surface street, and would be much more inconvenient for those going home to the future galleria site apartments, or for people going to the hotel, shopping, dining and employment destinations when compared with a Metro Station that abuts the galleria site property along Hawthorne and is closest to its residential, hotel and office space facilities.

Having a Metro station right next to these, and other soon to be built, high-density residential developments is our best opportunity to remove vehicles from these streets and convert drivers to mass transit riders and lessen the environmental and human costs we will all be incurring in a few short years.
