TITLE
APPROVE THE PURCHASE OF FOURTY-EIGHT (48) CRADLEPOINT IBR900 RUGGEDIZED CELLULAR ROUTERS WITH CRADLEPOINT 3-YEAR SUPPORT, MAINTENANCE AND

NETCLOUD MANAGEMENT SERVICES FOR POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT VEHICLE

CONNECTIVITY TO THE CITY NETWORK FROM STEP CG, LLC THROUGH THE GENERAL

SERVICES ADMINISTRATION (GSA) MULTIPLE AWARD SCHEDULE CONTRACT #47QTCA19D00MM FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $54,968.82

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
City Police and Fire Department in-vehicle mobile data computers securely access the City’s Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS) and other software applications via Cradlepoint routers over the Verizon Wireless cellular network. The new Cradlepoint IBR900 ruggedized cellular router (IBR900) will replace the existing Cradlepoint IBR1100 ruggedized cellular routers (IBR1100) deployed to police and fire public safety vehicles in 2016. The IBR900 router is the designated replacement for the IBR1100. The router replacement is funded in the Budget is part of the Information Technology FY 2022-23 equipment replacement program.

BACKGROUND
Police and fire Department vehicles, and their encompassing technology, are mission critical systems that enable public safety personnel to respond quickly to emergencies and have access to essential data which enables them to provide a high level of service to the community. Reliable connectivity to the City CAD and RMS systems, as well as a host of other applications, including City, County, State and Federal services is imperative.

The existing IBR1100 in-vehicle routers are exhibiting both performance and stability issues due to age which have caused an increasing rate of service interruptions. The replacement of the IBR1100 routers with IBR900 routers will provide enhanced performance and more reliable connectivity to the Verizon Wireless network for City Police and Fire Department emergency vehicles.

COORDINATION
The purchase will be coordinated between Information Technology, Step CG, LLC and the Financial Services Department.

FISCAL IMPACT
The Cradlepoint IBR900 replacement cost of $54,968.82 is funded in the Information Technology FY 2022-23 adopted budget, approved as part of Decision Package #9 - 2022-23 Equipment
