TITLE

APPROVE AN AMENDMENT TO THE AGREEMENT WITH GMV SYNCROMATICS CORPORATION

TO PROVIDE ANNUNCIATOR SYSTEM AND REAL-TIME INFORMATION SERVICES FOR BEACH CITIES TRANSIT TO INCREASE THE NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT BY $9,052

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On July 16, 2019, the City Council approved the Real-Time Information (RTI) System Request for Proposal (RFP) for Beach Cities Transit (BCT). As a result of the RFP, the City Council approved the Agreement for RTI Services with GMV Syncromatics (Syncromatics) on December 17, 2019. The First Amendment to the Agreement adds the installation, software and annual service fees for new bus annunciator systems that dynamically announce stop, arrival, and upcoming destination information generated by the RTI System through a real-time integration.

The amendment increases the not to exceed amount of the original Agreement by $9,052. The term of the agreement runs through June 16, 2024. The agreement is funded by dedicated and restricted transportation funding and receives no support from the General Fund.

BACKGROUND
The Syncromatics annunciator system was included in the replacement bus procurement in 2019.

The annunciator system integrates directly with the Syncromatics RTI system enabling the City to update the bus announcement scripts and messages that inform riders of approaching stops and related information. Announcements can be amended using the existing Syncromatics RTI system utilized by BCT.

The proposed first amendment increases the contract amount by $9,052 for a new total not-toexceed $187,092. This includes the annual fees associated with the extended term, as well as the addition of the new annunciator system.

COORDINATION
The City Attorney’s Office approved the amendment to the Agreement as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT
The software programming and setup costs and annual service fees are included in the Transit Fund budget, using Proposition A Local Return Funds. BCT services receive no support from the General Fund.
