Project Barley has been an excellent addition to the Redondo Boardwalk and has very quickly outgrown their humble space. They have been committed to the success and improvement of the Boardwalk, and have created a welcoming space for local musicians of all ages. Joe Smith and Brent Reger deserve the chance to let their business grow and thrive, and should be the council's first choice as lessee. I believe there will be ample opportunity for more great local craft breweries and tap rooms on the Boardwalk at the Fun Factory site when it becomes available.

I'm glad to see the city is going to look into a short-term bike locker rental system to enable greater access and usage of the new bike lockers. I was surprised to read that Santa Clarita Transit is the only agency in LA County with such a program for bike lockers.

BikeLink is a popular provider of secure bike storage for transit agencies. They offer a variety of secure storage options, including secure parking rooms (Bike Hubs) and bike lockers. It looks like their bike lockers are more popular in NorCal than SoCal. LA Metro has several of the Bike Hubs (secure rooms, not bike lockers) and they are accessible via TAP cards. See: https://www.bikehub.com/articles/bikehub-secure-parking-rooms-pg1215.htm The City of Covina has a secure bike storage room at their Metrolink station, as well as an e-bike share program:
https://covinaca.gov/publicworks/page/bicycle-programs
Santa Cruz has bike lockers for hourly rental enabled by BikeLink cards:
https://www.cityofsantacruz.com/government/city-departments/public-works/traffic-engineering/bicyclepedestrian-facilities-and-programs/bicycle-locker-rentals It looks like the use of bike lockers for short-term storage enabled by TAP cards or apps is not as widespread. I understand that it would require equipment upgrades, but it is definitely done in practice! At any rate, I'm hopeful that we'll see people use the bike lockers and bike racks at the transit center, and with induced demand, more people will recognize the convenience of bikes + transit for commuting and exploring.

Let's fix the homeless problem first. We should not expose gas station employees to unnecessary unintended problems associated with selling alcohol to motorists.

Lifting a ban on grocery item sales at gas stations would help improve healthy food access and food security in Redondo neighborhoods that are not within walking distance to grocery stores. I've seen some pretty cool combination grocery store/gas stations in California. But as a public health-trained person I'm uneasy about selling alcohol to motorists, although based on California ABC laws it is allowable with permits. Is there no way to allow for grocery item sales but disallow alcohol sales at gas stations?
