A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING A FISCAL
YEAR 2022-2023 BUDGET MODIFICATION TO APPROPRIATE
NINE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS
($915,000) TO THE PORTOFINO WAY SEWER PUMP STATION
PROJECT, JOB NO 50210 AND SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND
($700,000) TO THE YACHT CLUB WAY SEWER PUMP STATION
PROJECT, JOB NO 50260, FOR A TOTAL OF ONE MILLION
AND SIX HUNDRED FIFTEEN THOUSAND ($1,615,000) FROM
THE CITY WASTEWATER FUND
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of Redondo Beach (“City Council”) to review the adopted budget from time to time; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redondo Beach’s adopted budget needs to be modified to appropriate monies from the City funds to fund necessary expenditures; and WHEREAS, on June 22, 2022, the City Council approved the Portofino Way Sewer Pump Station Project & Yacht Club Way Sewer Pump Station Project, Job Nos. 50210 & 50260 (the “Project”) as part of the 2022-27 Five Year Capital Improvement Program (“CIP”); and WHEREAS, on December 6, 2022, the City Council approved plans and specifications for construction of the Portofino Way Sewer Pump Station Project & Yacht Club Way Sewer Pump Station Project, Job Nos. 50210 & 50260 and authorized the City Clerk to advertise the Project for competitive bids; and
WHEREAS, on March 2, 2023, bids for Project construction were received and publicly opened at the City Clerk’s Office; and
WHEREAS, the lowest and responsible bidder for the contract was Mehta Mechanical Company, Inc., a California corporation (the “Contractor”), in the amount of $7,514,000; and WHEREAS, the current budgeted amount for this project is approximately $7,449,210; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Administrative Policy/Procedures (APP) 14.1, the City of Redondo Beach (the “City”) may appropriate additional funds up to ten percent of the contract amount to cover a contingency; and
WHEREAS, the amount of $1,615,000 needs to be appropriated to the Project to fund any budget shortfall and potential contingency; and
WHEREAS, the Project, including the potential contingency will cost approximately $9,060,000 of which $7,449,210 is allocated to the current Project and $1,615,000 is needed to complete the project; and

WHEREAS, there are available funds in the City Wastewater Fund to cover the certain costs and potential contingencies for the Project.
WHEREAS, the City desires to use these available funds to cover the remaining costs and potential contingencies for the Project.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The amounts allocated in the 2022-2027 Five-Year Capital Improvement Program Budget and the amounts required to meet conditions which have arisen during the budget year and require a modification in the budget appropriations; and, upon recommendation of the City Manager, the budget appropriation as adopted for Fiscal Year 2022-2023 is modified as follows:
A total of one million and six hundred fifteen thousand dollars ($1,615,000) from the City Wastewater Fund shall be appropriated to the Portofino Way Sewer Pump Station Project & Yacht Club Way Sewer Pump Station Project, Job Nos. 50210 & 50260 as follows:
Nine hundred and fifteen thousand dollars ($915,000) to the Portofino Way Sewer Pump Station Project, Job no 50210 and
Seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000) to the & Yacht Club Way Sewer Pump Station Project, Job No 50260
SECTION 2. Pursuant to Section 11(f) of the City Charter, the City Clerk is hereby directed to correct the budget records of said City Fiscal Year 2022-2023 in accordance with the above modifications.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and shall enter the same in the Book of Original Resolutions.
