A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING A CONTRACT
TO MEHTA MECHANICAL COMPANY, INC., A CALIFORNIA
CORPORATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $7,514,000.00 FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF THE PORTOFINO WAY SEWER PUMP
STATION PROJECT & YACHT CLUB WAY SEWER PUMP
STATION PROJECT, JOB NO. 50210 & 50260
WHEREAS, the Portofino Way and Yacht Club Way Sanitary Sewer Pump Stations are in need of immediate upgrades to meet the requirements outlined in State Water Board Order No. 2006-003 and safety and building codes; and
WHEREAS, on December 6, 2022, the City Council of the City of Redondo Beach (“City Council”) approved the Plans and Specifications for the Portofino Way and Yacht Club Way Sanitary Sewer Pump Stations, Job Nos. 50210 & 50260 (the “Project”), and authorized the City Clerk to advertise for competitive bids on January 4, 2023; and WHEREAS, on March 2, 2023, bids for this Project were received and publicly opened at the City Clerk’s Office; and
WHEREAS, Mehta Mechanical Company, Inc., a California corporation (“MMC, Inc.”), is the lowest and responsible bidder for the Project, as more particularly described in the Plans and Specifications thereof, and incorporated herein by reference, and is awarded the contract for this Project in the amount of $7,514,000; and
WHEREAS, MMC, Inc. shall provide all applicable insurance certificates and bonds to the City for approval prior to the execution of the contract; and WHEREAS, sufficient monies in the City Wastewater Fund have been appropriated for this Project in the adopted Fiscal Year 2022/2023 CIP Budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Redondo Beach, California, awards the contract for the Portofino Way and Yacht Club Way Sanitary Sewer Pump Stations, Job Nos. 50210 & 50260 to MMC, Inc., in the amount of $7,514,000 on the condition that all applicable insurance certificates and bonds shall be provided to the City for approval prior to the Mayor executing the contract on behalf of the City.
SECTION 2 The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and shall enter the same in the Book of Original Resolutions.
