Hello, I'm Brandee Keith of the South Coast Air Quality Management District. We'd like to remind residents that May marks the start of ozone season in Greater Los Angeles. During this time of year, hot, stagnant days with strong sunlight can increase the formation of ground-level ozone, known as smog, creating unhealthy air quality throughout Southern California. During this time, it is common for air quality to reach unhealthy levels in the afternoon hours. Ozone pollution can cause or worsen respiratory problems, including asthma, lung inflammation and bronchitis. Young children, older adults and people with chronic respiratory conditions may be more sensitive to the health effects of ozone. Residents should stay informed of air quality levels in their area and adjust their activities accordingly. You can check your air quality by downloading our South Coast AQMD mobile app, or by going to www.aqmd.gov/aqimap for our local Air Quality Index, or by signing up to receive air quality notifications via email at www.airalerts.org.

I wanted to express my support for our Redondo Beach Police Department and to speak to the council on improvements to facilities for personnel and training.
1. Our current police station is old and needs to be replaced. It was built in 1959 and using bandaids and duck tape can only go too far. We need to improve their work space and figure out what is going on with the land used by the detective bureau adjacent to RUHS. That seems like a good site for a future station.
2. The shooting range needs to be updated and improved for our department personnel to maintain and improve their skills.
3. Let’s make sure to prioritize our police officers who work tirelessly every day to keep our community safe.
Let’s give them the tools they need for better recruitment, retaining staff or updating equipment that’s needs to be replaced. There are federal grants out there that need to be explored.
Thank you for your time.

I oppose the project. Please do not support it. The "owner" of the project has not submitted a complete application. Period. Let's support our city Community Development Director's decision. In the event the area becomes a park, the park will be used by the residents and VISITORS. We need to preserve our open spaces left in our small city that is already very dense. Once our open spaces are gone, they are gone for ever.

This project will bring much needed affordable housing to the South Bay. It has access to bike lanes and transit and will help create healthier and safer communities for younger and older residents! Please support this project as it is critical to Redondo beach meeting it’s RHNA goals and avoiding costly and wasteful litigation with the state of California. To date no city has successfully won in court with the state and it would be a large burden to taxpayers in the city. I hope others will support this project moving forward as it avoids harsh consequences for the city and brings a number of benefits.

I think the inclusionary zoning is an important factor in developing affordable housing for people across Redondo Beach. However I think the 75 year covenant is too long given the life span of buildings in our coastal environment. I think a more reasonable time frame of say 10 or 20 years will provide affordable housing while not forcing working class families to live in dilapidated housing.
