To: Redondo Beach City Council, City Mgr
My name is Paul Weavers, resident of Redondo Beach District 4.

I serve on the membership board of the Redondo Beach Perry Park Seniors Club.

Before the shut-down in March 2020, the YMCA hot lunch program was held at Perry Park
Senior Center three days a week at a modest charge to the seniors that attended.

Redondo senior residents from all five districts attended the lunch program.

We seniors are interested in the city restarting the YMCA nutrition program at Perry Park center.

To that purpose, several of us prepared a petition to the City Council. 65 seniors from all three centers signed the petition. It was presented to the council at
the March 14 Council meeting and was received to be filed.

This was in anticipation of and preparation for the upcoming annual budget planning process.

It was understood that some facility work would be needed to meet updated code requirements.

Return of the lunch program is contingent on completion of the electrical upgrade.

Recently, I learned that required electrical work at the center would not be performed for
12 more months. The work may be either part of the maintenance budget or a larger Capital Improvement task. Is it an item under the Community Services budget, or the Public Works maintenance budget?
Please elevate this work to a higher priority on the upcoming budget plan.

The seniors at the RB Senior Centers consider the return of the hot lunch program a priority.

Thank you.

Paul Weavers, for the Perry Park Seniors Board
