TITLE

DISCUSSION AND CONSIDERATION TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION APPOINTING MAYOR PRO

TEM, DELEGATES AND ALTERNATES AS OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CITY FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023-2024 COMMENCING JULY 1, 2023
ADOPT BY TITLE ONLY RESOLUTION CC-2306-055, A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF

THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING A NEW MAYOR PRO TEM,

DELEGATES AND ALTERNATES AS OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CITY FOR A TERM COMMENCING JULY 1, 2023 AND EXPIRING ON JUNE 30, 2024

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Approval of the Resolution will appoint a Councilmember to serve as Mayor Pro Tem for the term of one year beginning July 1, 2023 and ending June 30, 2024, and make changes to delegates and alternates for a term of one year. With District 1 Councilmember Nehrenheim completing his term as Mayor Pro Tem on June 30, 2023, Council is asked to appoint a new Mayor Pro Tem and to further consider appointments to various boards and agencies as they see fit for the term July 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024.

BACKGROUND
The City Council adopted Resolution CC-2206-037 on June 21, 2022 which appoints a Mayor Pro Tempore prior to June 30 of each year for a term of one fiscal year, in compliance with Section 8.5 of the City Charter. This annual rotation also complies with the appointments to the various Boards, Commissions, Agencies and Committees on which City officials participate and whose positions are reviewed annually before the end of each fiscal year.

On June 21, 2022 the City Council selected District 1 Councilmember Nils Nehrenheim as Mayor Pro Tem instead of the recommended rotation list on the attached admin report.

On April 4, 2023 the City Council adopted Resolution No. CC-2304-037, to appoint new delegates and alternates as the City’s official representatives due to the election results on the March 7, 2023.
