FOR SIDEWALK REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT SERVICES TO INCREASE THE NOT TO EXCEED AMOUNT FROM $375,000 TO $575,000
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Approval of the recommended action would amend the sidewalk replacement Agreement with CJ Concrete Construction, Inc. to increase the not to exceed amount from $375,000 to $575,000. The additional amount will be used to cover the cost of traffic calming and pedestrian safety projects previously approved by the City Council.
BACKGROUND
On October 4, 2022, the City Council awarded a two-year agreement to CJ Concrete Construction, Inc. to remove and replace sections of sidewalk, curb & gutter and driveway approaches that are significantly damaged and could present potential trip hazards. The initial not to exceed amount for the Agreement was $375,000. In addition to the on-call sidewalk replacements, the vendor has been selected to execute various Traffic Calming and Drainage Improvement Projects and to construct bulb-outs at the intersections of Robinson Street and Phelan Lane, Beland Boulevard and Gibson Lane, and Beland Boulevard and Perkins Lane to enhance pedestrian safety. The cost for these projects is approximately $200,000. Funding for the work was approved as part of the CIP.
COORDINATION
The Public Works Department worked with the City Attorney’s Office to prepare the proposed amendment.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost to have CJ Concrete Construction, Inc. execute the previously approved traffic calming and pedestrian safety projects is approximately $200,000. Funding for the work is available in the capital improvement budget.
