Decision Package #32 - Increased Tree Trimming Budget. Additional appropriations are needed to cover the gap between the Public Works Department's core budget for tree trimming services and current annual tree trimming contract costs. The request is based on pricing proposed by West Coast Arborists to extend the current tree trimming agreement for four additional years and the projected levels of service required, including the anticipated requests for out-of-grid pruning. The Public Works Department's core budget for tree trimming services is $283,000. The average annual cost for tree trimming services over the four-year period is estimated to be roughly $550,000. Recommended for FY 2023-24 is an ongoing appropriation to the Street Landscaping and Lighting Fund (SLLF) of $207,851 along with a corresponding increase to the SLLF's General Fund Subsidy of $207,851, and a one-time General Fund appropriation of $103,930.
