At the 8/1 RBCC meeting, CMs referred staff to find a charter bus company to take RB residents to an LA Metro meeting about the C line extension. Costs of $1,500-$1,700 were mentioned. Perhaps the city can save money if people take Metro to DTLA as I frequently do. Just load up the virtual TAP card on your cell phone, or buy a reloadable TAP card for $2 at a transit station.
I drive to the Harbor Gateway Park & Ride, hop on the waiting bus, TAP to pay $2.50, find a seat, and read a book. (Sometimes I look out the window and gloat about all the suckers who don't have their own driver and have to sit in traffic while I sail through in the bus lane.) Buses take off every 5-10 minutes throughout the day. In 30 minutes, I'm in DTLA. Get off at the Union Station stop and walk to the Metro Offices at the north end of Union Station. Seniors ride for just $0.75 ($0.35 if they wait until after 9am).
On the way back, I like to stop at 99 Ranch (near the Park n Ride) to pick up dinner. It sure beats driving, parking, and cooking.
