A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING A CONTRACT
TO MANSON CONSTRUCTION CO., A WASHINGTON
CORPORATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,992,000 FOR THE
KING HARBOR MAINTENANCE DREDGING PROJECT, JOB
NO. 70660
WHEREAS, the City of Redondo Beach (“City”) King Harbor (the “Harbor”) requires repair to reinstate its navigational depth to the original design specifications and provide the safe passage of vessels by eliminating the accumulated shoals within the Harbor; and WHEREAS, the repair includes dredging approximately 62,000 cubic yards of material from two areas within King Harbor; and
WHEREAS, on June 6, 2023, the City Council approved the Plans and Specifications for the King Harbor Maintenance Dredging Project, Job No. 70660 (the “Project”), and authorized the City Clerk to advertise for competitive bids; and
WHEREAS, on July 20, 2023, bids for this Project were received and publicly opened at the City Clerk’s Office; and
WHEREAS, Manson Construction Co., a Washington corporation, is the lowest responsible bidder for the Project, as more particularly described in the Plans and Specifications thereof, and incorporated herein by reference, and is awarded the contract for this Project in the amount of $2,992,000; and
WHEREAS, Manson Construction Co. shall provide all applicable insurance certificates and bonds to the City for approval prior to the execution of the contract; and WHEREAS, sufficient monies have been appropriated for this Project in the adopted Fiscal Year 2023/2024 CIP Budget.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Redondo Beach, California, awards the contract for the King Harbor Maintenance Dredging Project, Job No. 70660 to Manson Construction Co. in the amount of $2,992,000 on the condition that all applicable insurance certificates and bonds shall be provided to the City for approval prior to the Mayor executing the contract on behalf of the City.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and shall enter the same in the Book of Original Resolutions.
