TITLE

DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION TO APPOINT DELEGATES AND ALTERNATES AS

OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CITY TO SERVE ON THE LEAGUE OF CALIFORNIA

CITIES (CAL CITIES) BOARD AND OTHER AGENCIES AS NEEDED
ADOPT BY TITLE ONLY RESOLUTION CC-2308-075, RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. CC-2306-055

APPOINTING DELEGATES AND ALTERNATES AS OFFICIAL REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CITY FOR A TERM COMMENCING AUGUST 15, 2023 AND EXPIRING ON JUNE 30, 2024

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
On August 1, 2023, the City Council reinstated membership in the League of California Cities (Cal Cities) which opened the positions of delegate and alternate for the organization.

The attached Resolution allows for appointments to fill the Cal Cities (General and Los Angeles County Division) positions and modify any other agency delegate and alternate appointments, if desired.

Additionally, it has come to our attention that the City no longer has a representative on the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission. That position has been removed from the Resolution.

BACKGROUND
Annually, each City Council is asked to designate a voting representative and an alternate who would be registered and present at the Cal Cities General Assembly Meeting during the annual conference.

Traditionally, the City Council has confirmed the designated voting delegate for the Annual Business Meeting when the membership considers conference resolutions. This also confirms that the appointed delegate (or alternate in his/her absence) would be a registered attendant at the conference and may vote on behalf of the City on matters of Cal Cities Policy.

COORDINATION
The City Attorney approved the Resolution as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT
None
