Subject: Tropical Storm Hilary
Team -
in preparation for Tropicai Storm Hilary, which is expected to impact Redondo Beach late Sunday night thru Tuesday, the Fire Chief contacted the National Whether Serice There real re for So. Cal, with a 30-40% chance that Redondo Beach will see coastal flooding. surge and large waves and up to 4" inches of rain. The storm is picking up power and the warm coastal waters and winds are in alignment to cause disruptions to RB. If it runs into colder ocean water it might turn inland or out to sea and avoid us but that the case yet. This is the beginning of the 2023 El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO).

We will be on a conference call Friday at 13:00 hours (1PM) to gain further information.

Public Works is getting ready. Sand has been delivered to bagging stations at FS2 and PW on Gertruda Ave. Public Works is also prepping their generators, pumps and chain saws for dependable operation.

Mike Klein will be available all weekend as will PW crews on standby. The storm preparation page is up on the City website and can be found here.
