Hello. IwouldliketocommentonCouncilAgendaItemM1 -- concerningchangingtheopenmeetingtime fromthecurrent6p.m. to5p.m.
Iopposechangingtheopenmeetingstartfrom6p.m. Itwouldbequiteinconvenientforthosewhomaystill beattheirjobsby5p.m., andforthosewhomusttraveltogettotheCouncilmeetingortogethometo logontoZoom. Theymayhavechildrentofeedortogrababiteofdinnerbeforethemeetingbegins. We don'twantfolksspeedingintraffictogettoCouncilchambersorhomefora5p.m. meetingstart. Therewas adeadlyfour-carcrashonlyyesterdayinNorthRedondoinvolvingspeeding, andwewantourresidentstobe safe. WealsoneedfolkstobeabletoparticipateintheCouncilmeetingsandtoexercisetheirrighttospeak andfortheircommentstobeheard. A5p.m. starttimewouldnotmakeasignificantdifferenceinhowlate Councilmeetingsrun. Ashorterclosedsessionwouldonlyresultinrunninglongerwhentheyreturntoclosed session.
IurgetheCouncilandMayorBrandtoretainthe6p.m. starttimeforopensessionofCouncilmeetings becauseitismorefeasible.
thSecondly, onmonthswhichhave5Tuesdays, itwouldbebeneficialtoholda4 CityCouncilmeeting -- rather thantohavetwoweekswithnomeetingatall -- becausemorecanbeaccomplishedin4meetingsduetothe lengthylistofagendaitemsandclosedsessionmaterialtocover. Havingonly3meetingsonamonthwith5 Tuesdayswouldbewastefulofprecioustimeandopportunities forresidentstoparticipate. IurgetheCouncil andMayorBrandtohold4meetingsonmonthswith5Tuesdaysfromnowon.
