As the expectations for first responders has increased, better training, more specialized enforcement, the City has elected to increase their salary to meet the increased demands. What the City is failing to recognize is that behind every first responder, who gets paid more to produce more, are dozens of civilian employees who, equally, have to receive more training to keep up with new directives, must work harder to keep up with the increasing demand of paperwork, evidence, inmates, court filings, citations, complaints, telephone calls and citizen interactions with no increase to our pay. Our work load has tripled within the last 5 years alone, yet we are expected to stay quiet, keep our heads down, and do our jobs without the same recognition you give to the First Responders. Its time the City recognizes OUR importance to the City, and to the community by paying us fair wages. We urge you to look at each one of your employees, in City Hall and the Police Department. Really look at us, working hard... for YOU, and decide that it's time to pay us the fair wages we are asking. Thank you. statement from a Police Dept Civilian
