HOMELAND SECURITY
• Soon after the events of September 11, 2001 the South Bay Police Chiefs created a Terrorism Advisory Group
to study the need for an appropriate response at the
local level to the increased threat of terrorism.
• The goals were to both (1) integrate with and
compliment existing or currently forming efforts at the Federal, State and County level while avoiding
duplication of effort and (2) to examine and develop
a response to our own unique needs in the South Bay.
HOMELAND SECURITY
• A Steering Committee identified areas of immediate
priority and subcommittees comprised of subject
matter experts from throughout the South Bay were
formed to make recommendations in each area. A
comprehensive report was compiled with
recommendations for action on both a regional and
local level. Many of the action items have been
completed and others are currently under way.

COST – REASONS IT may not cost more
Sad to see that our DIVIDED city is already being destroyed from the outside, not bringing in revenue, not getting anything done with our waterfront that generates revenue and in fact losing revenue due to the continuous cycle of lawsuits - and now y’all are determined to also destroy our city from the inside out.
Shame on all of y’all who can’t be bothered to act above your own power-grabbing interests and in the best interest of ALL residents of our city. AGAIN.
DO NOT PUT OUR CITY ATTY ELECTED POSITION TO A VOTE FOR THE POSSIBILITY OF MAKING IT AN APPOINTED POSITION. DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE OUR CITY CHARTER TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN OR MAKE RESOLUTIONS OR PUT THIS ON THE BALLOT.
At least NOW if we don’t like what our city attorney is doing, we have a chance to vote him out every so often. THIS would leave RB citizens with NO recourse.
KEEP OUR CITY ATTORNEY POSITION ELECTED AND STOP WASTING TAXPAYER DOLLARS with your power grabs and trying to “fix” what ain’t broke.
We need a city attorney NOT BEHOLDEN to the wolves who are already inside our beloved Redondo Beach henhouse (and I’m NOT talking about the one in Nils’ backyard).
Thank you

Per the Easy Reader 4/21/23 article, I agree with our current City Attorney City Attorney Mike Webb who advised the hiring to avoid a conflict of interest, while he expressed “complete opposition” to the idea. Webb, who has worked in the city attorney’s office for 29 years said, “We have the form of government that gives maximum control to local voters.” I will remind you, one CC member is accused of misappropriating $515,000 in law practice and faces State Bar charges. Another was quoted on the news saying, “If you’re going to pick a place to have low to medium-income housing, are you going to put it next to the ocean, or are you going to put it inland?” which embarrassed residents. A third was named in a 2018 lawsuit to legally ban that person from Hennessey’s Tavern and all other establishments run by its owner. Hennessey, in the complaint, argues our CC person was disruptive at the tavern in April 2018 and was subsequently told he was no longer welcome there. Finally, the City of Redondo Beach was on the COVER of the LA Times for nastiness. Recently both the mayor and somebody who served as mayor pro-term posted on their social media (FB) soliciting donations from residents to pay their personal 6 figure legal bills.
I get you see yourselves as “fighting” for Redondo, but maybe Redondo doesn’t want to fight anymore. In my opinion, the CC majority – Bill, Nils, Todd and Zein are at best out of touch with what residents want and at worst essentially incompetent. This is really poor form to even consider taking this away from residents. Residents don’t want to read about workers about to go on strike.
Rather, we want to have a nice place to get a meal or meet friends (like El Segundo, Hermosa, Manhattan Beach and Torrance all have for residents), for the city to not be in the news for financial distress and for us not to continuously be embarrassed by our city council. Is that too much to ask? With this on the agenda, it appears to be.
See you Tuesday!!!
