APPROVE AN AGREEMENT WITH PLAYCORE WISCONSIN, INC. FOR INSTALLATION OF A
TRIANGULAR SAIL SHADE STRUCTURE AT ANDREWS PARK FOR A TOTAL COST NOT TO EXCEED $47,970
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Approval of this item would authorize an agreement with PlayCore Wisconsin, Inc. to install a large triangular sail shade structure over the playground area at Andrews Park. The playground is currently exposed to the elements. PlayCore Wisconsin will provide all materials, equipment, and labor for a total cost not to exceed $47,970.
BACKGROUND
Andrews Park contains a large playground area that is currently fully exposed to the sun and other elements. In order to provide shade for the play area, the Public Works Department obtained a proposal from PlayCore Wisconsin, Inc. to provide and install a large sail-style shade structure. The structure would be comprised of a triangular shaped fabric sail approximately 42 feet x 45 feet x 45 feet, mounted on three metal columns.
The cost for the shade structure would not exceed $47,970, including installation. The proposed cost reflects pricing available through the Omnia Partners cooperative purchasing program and satisfies the City’s competitive purchasing requirements. Both the vendor and the City maintain membership in the Omnia Partners cooperative purchasing program.
COORDINATION
The Public Works Department coordinated the item and the City Attorney’s Office prepared the recommended agreement.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost for procurement and installation of a triangular shade structure at Andrews Park will not exceed $47,970. Funding is available in the budget for the Playground Shade Structures Capital Improvement Project.
