I think the mural will be a big draw for the skate park and the pier and could become a cool "photo wall," especially if elements of the mural are accessible outside of the skatepark fence.

Regarding the proposal from Mr. Jenkins, I would love to see the design incorporate additional Redondo-specific elements like fish, dolphins, or sailboats. I like the bright colors and the playful theme. I think the lifesaver float could incorporate the words "Redondo Beach" or "RB" instead of a compass.

I also like the submissions from Mr. Nimura, specifically Sunset Waves and Sky Whale. I like how they depict cultural and local elements. I think the Sky Whale in brighter colors would look really nice.

I support the implementation of edge line striping and leading pedestrian intervals for traffic safety and traffic calming. I appreciate the proactive approach from the Public Works department and engineers to introduce this to have more tools available to respond to residents' requests for traffic calming and safer streets. I would encourage continued efforts like lane narrowing, bulbouts, and raised pedestrian crossings to enhance safety. A recent Johns Hopkins report summarizes how lane narrowing to 9 ft from 10-12 ft lanes can effectively reduce vehicle speeds, improve safety for all roadway users, and boost the local economy:
https://narrowlanes.americanhealth.jhu.edu/
However, I do have a concern with installing edge line striping adjacent to parking lanes and would suggest we install buffered or protected bike lanes instead. The edge line striping can easily be confused for Class II bike lanes and people who bike within the edge line and next to parked cars could be at risk for "door-zone" injuries and deaths when doors fly open and a bicyclist hits the door. People have been killed biking in the door zone, including Hollywood producer Bob George in Silver Lake, just last month (https://bikinginla.com/2023/10/21/hollywood-producer-bob-george-killed-by-dooring-in-east-hollywood-silverlake-tuesday-10th-socal-bike-death-in-13-days/).

If striping is to be installed adjacent to parked cars, can we ensure that there is adequate buffer, or better yet, install buffered or protected bike lanes instead of the striping wherever possible? I think we are privileging car parking space over safety of people on bikes (see the # cars parked vs # of people who ride bikes on Torrance Blvd in RB). Bicycling boosts the local economy and we should make it much safer to bike by installing complete streets and protected bike lanes, which will also calm traffic.
