On December 1st, South Coast Air Quality Management District’s Governing Board voted unanimously to re-elect Senator (Ret.) Vanessa Delgado and City of South Pasadena Councilmember Michael A. Cacciotti to second terms as Chair and Vice Chair respectively. Their terms will expire in January 2026. Additionally, Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, Councilmember Carlos Rodriguez, and Mayor Larry McCallon have been reappointed.

Senator (Ret.) Delgado has served as Chair of the Governing Board since March 2023. She is the first Latina to Chair the Board in the agency’s 48-year history. Delgado was first appointed to South Coast AQMD’s Governing Board in May 2019 as the Senate Rules Committee’s representative.

The South Coast AQMD Climate Change Committee will meet in hybrid format this Friday, December 15, at 9:00 a.m. Agenda topics include an overview of regulatory policy and framework for climate change as well as look at climate change impacts on Southern California. My name is Brian Diederich and was born and raised in the South Bay. I am a current business owner in The Riviera Village and have been on the Board of Directors for the Riviera Village Business Improvement District (RVA BID) for the past 10 years, 4 of those years with Allen Sanford currently as current president.

I would like to thank the city of Redondo Beach and the Mayor/Council from 2018/2019, who believed in Allen Sanford’s vision with the first BeachLife Festival. As you all know this festival has brought many tangible benefits to the city, but it has also brought a huge intangible benefit which has been missing in the South Bay of late, community. Tens of thousands of people from all over the beach cities converge at BeachLife Festival and it becomes a huge celebration. Redondo Beach has now become somewhat synonymous with BeachLife Festival across the U.S. so take advantage of it with your marketing. This event should always be supported.

I am 100% in support of Allen and the new tenants’ vision of The Waterfront where Chillers (On the Rocks) and Ruby’s are located. Chillers has been vacant forever and Ruby’s looked vacant even when it was open.

Improving these two buildings, opening a new restaurant and public club, and creating an inviting outdoor area will be a great start to finally fixing up The Waterfront and continue to add to the community feel. The city has waited too long to improve the area and this project is the perfect spark needed to bring people back and enjoy what Redondo and The Waterfront has to offer. Please push this project through quickly and support it wholeheartedly.

Thank you for your time.
