TITLE
APPROVE AN AGREEMENT WITH VOX NETWORK SOLUTIONS INC FOR CISCO NETWORK SWITCHES AND CONFIGURATION FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $48,057.50 AND THE TERM FEBRUARY 6, 2024 TO FEBRUARY 5, 2025
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Vox Network Solutions will provide and configure Cisco network switches for 4 City locations for the purpose of ensuring compliance with the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) section 140-2. The hardware and services are necessary to remain in compliance with data network security requirements for Redondo Beach Police Department operations, which must meet certain mandated criteria. In August of 2021, Vox Network Solutions was awarded a contract to redesign and replace the City’s data network, and this item is a continuation of that effort.
BACKGROUND
Following a competitive request for proposals (RFP) in August of 2021, Council awarded an agreement to Vox Network Solutions to architect, furnish, and install a new data network covering all City locations. The initial scope of work included implementing FIPS 140-2 data encryption at locations occupied by Police personnel. The COVID-19 pandemic created a lack of availability for compliant network hardware. As such, a change order was issued to deploy alternative equipment as a temporary workaround that allowed the network refresh project to be completed on-time. This project picks up where the initial refresh implementation left off and implements Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliant hardware at 4 locations.
To maintain consistency of design and associated warranties for equipment in the City’s network, VOX Network Solutions is the only vendor the Information Technology Department is confident can properly manage this important project.
COORDINATION
Information Technology staff coordinated directly with Vox Network Solutions and Cisco Systems to develop the scope and structure of the Agreement, which has been approved as to form by the City Attorney’s Office.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost of the implementation is funded from the Information Technology Internal Service Fund and was included in the FY 2023-24 adopted annual budget. The total not to exceed cost of the
