Interim Fire Chief Patrick Butler addressed the permit process and inspections; noted there will be one inspection 48 hours prior to the event; asked that the inspection in Redondo Beach be scheduled by 5: 00 p. m. on the Fourth of July and stated he would prefer that Garden State handle the contract with the barge.
Steve Jeffries stated he cannot guarantee that, as the barge company schedules their departures, and he doubts they would go out four hours early and addressed the possibility of holding the Redondo Beach inspection during daylight hours ( two hours before show time). In terms of the on- site inspection, he reported that people will not be permitted to walk through the barge where the wiring is located for safety reasons and preferred that major inspections be done at the barge yard.
