Please choose one of the two designs from Stellen Design. They were created out of an open and transparent process with input from a committee hand-picked by every city council member. Any other choice would be a slap in the face to the designer, the committee, and the residents of Redondo Beach.

Pick either one of Stellen Design’s logos! The one we taxpayers paid for, and has already gone through so much committee and community outreach. It’s the most favored and we know Jordis can properly implement it into a standard design across all mediums, unlike the others.

Metro also is not following best practices for utility relocation per https://www.transit.dot.gov/sites/fta.dot.gov/files/2022-03/Utility-Relocation-Challenges-and-ProposedSolutions.pdf Hybrid alignment includes risks of pipeline corrosion induced by LRT stray currents. Per NFPA 130 section 4.7.1, flammable liquids/gas have to be monitored at entrances and exits of below grade systems such as 170th and 182nd trench under roads. Combined with corrosion induced by LRT of pipelines. This hazard is absolutely needed to be assessed and mitigated.

Hybrid alignment assumes waivers for utilities will be approved and DOT report includes examples where this resulted in delays and project redesign.

LA metro not including input from BNSF and pipeline operators on feasibility of the project sooner puts entire project at risk. LA metro includes utilities at 30% design and we are at 15% design according to response from green line project email questioning pipeline and emergency venting location.

LA metro counted impacted businesses by parcel instead of actual businesses resulting in inflated numbers for non-residential impacts for Hawthorne Blvd.

LA metro did not include residential impacts for Hybrid because any residential impacts were labeled as encroachment. This impacts 13 individual residences including ADUs and condos. Encroachment was not labeled for any residential property where homes would be impacted but was labeled as encroachment for yards and driveways along the same line. Encroachment seems to be arbitrary & not labeled for some residential properties.

I am tired of LA metro using deceptive tactics to manipulate the board including those mentioned and other examples such as missing units, leaving out metrics that don’t benefit them such as metrics in the Ridership report time savings in hours and LA metro refusal to apply for federal funding resulting in higher unsecured local funding for Hybrid alignment. I am concerned that the avoidance of federal funding and oversight is intentional to slip under the radar of FRA, PHMSA, and USDOT safety oversight for shared ROW of freight and LRT.

As a current Library Commission member, I oppose our Commission being consolidated with other Commissions at this time. I believe that the Library Commission serves an important function currently to facilitate communication and advocacy between Library staff and the community needs represented by the Commission.

Our Commission has a full agenda at our monthly meetings (and has for the 3+ years that I have been on the Commission) and has an excellent track record of advocating for library needs, keeping up to date with current changes in library systems near us, and supporting our library staff and community with important items such as finding ways to open the two library branches for more hours. Our two branches currently serve over 16,000 patrons per month in our City and I think combining the Library Commission with other Commissions would dilute our ability to directly communicate with Library staff and continue to advocate as diligently for Library-specific needs.

If the decision to consolidate Commissions does move forward, I would like to see the City Council reach out to each Commission to ask for their thoughts on how best to accommodate that change (something that has not yet happened). Another concern of mine if the City Council moves towards consolidating the Commissions too quickly, is that it would communicate to the current Commissioners, who are volunteers within the community, that their time and service has not been appreciated or beneficial. I think it would potentially lead to the unfortunate outcome of losing valuable volunteers that would not apply again to serve on these volunteer Commissions and Boards, instead deciding to take their time and expertise to other organizations where they feel more valued.

I understand that some Commissions may not have enough work to justify monthly meetings and those groups may benefit from consolidation, but I do not feel that the Library Commission would benefit from consolidation at this time. Thank you.
