CITY COUNCIL MEETING
MAY 21, 2024
N.1 DISCUSSION AND POSSIBLE ACTION REGARDING THE COMPARATIVE DEPLOYMENT AND ORGANIZATIONAL ANALYSIS PREPARED BY CITYGATE ASSOCIATES, LLC. OF
THE REDONDO BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT AS COMPARED TO THE CONSOLIDATED
FIRE DISTRICT OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY
CONTACT: PATRICK BUTLER, INTERIM FIRE CHIEF
• PUBLIC COMMUNICATION
Anyway, here is my comment opposing the move to LA Fire:
<<The communities that have chosen to go with LA Fire are those that can't afford their own departments. The ones that can , e.g., Manhattan Beach, have chosen to keep theirs. Why? When it comes to emergency services, local control is valuable. pressure to accept the LA proposal appears to be at the behest of those few who see financial gain for themselves. The sketchy cost analysis in the Citygate report fails to show a net expense benefit to the switch. No sane business would take such a huge step without a comprehensive cost/benefit analysis, including capital costs as well as operating expenses.>>
Thanks,
