One (1) CHASSIS PREPARATION - GENERAL
BA-00-0000
The following paragraphs outline the chassis related options necessary for the specified chassis to be utilized. Additional basic vehicle options are listed and are to be performed/installed in order to meet the needs of this agency and to outfit the vehicle for use as an emergency service apparatus.
One (1) TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR(S)
BA-02-4010
Per NFPA 1901, each tire shall be equipped with a visual tire monitor that indicates when the tire pressure is low. The monitors shall be affixed to the valve stem on each tire. Six (6) tires sensors shall be provided and installed.
One (1) CHASSIS FRAME RAIL PREPARATION
BB-00-0000
Chassis muffler, filters, ejectors, and reservoirs shall be relocated, if necessary, to accommodate the body without modifying body compartmentation. The chassis frame rails shall be the proper length to fully support the modular body. If the frame rails need to be extended, they shall be properly modified following the chassis manufacturer's specific guidelines.
One (1) EXHAUST PIPE EXTENSION
BB-50-0000
The chassis exhaust pipe shall be extended to the side of the apparatus body to direct exhaust fumes away from the unit. The extension shall maintain the same diameter as the original pipe.
One (1) PAIR 4-DOOR CAB RUNNING BOARDS
BD-00-0400
EVI PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS January 8, 2024
REDONDO BEACH FIRE DEPARTMENT CUSTOM RESCUE VEHICLE 4 Aluminum diamond plate running boards shall be installed below cab doors. They shall start at the front cab wheelwell where a built-in splash shield is incorporated. They shall flare back to meet the body to form a cab entrance step.
The running board outer edge shall have a 1-1/2" downward break with a 1" inward return for strength and to eliminate a sharp edge. Each step area shall be supported back to the chassis frame with heavy steel channel which is bolted for future removal should it become necessary.
-- The diamond plate utilized shall be "slip resistant", meeting NFPA requirements One (1) CAST ALUM. FUEL FILLER(S)/CHASSIS FUEL TANK
BE-00-1500
The chassis manufacturer's fuel filler neck shall be extended to the side of the apparatus body where a recessed cast aluminum housing shall be installed. The fuel line shall be properly secured and protected. It shall not be routed through the body compartments. Final installation shall meet FMVSS. The fill housing shall have a spring-loaded fuel door.
One (1) ENGRAVED LABEL - DIESEL FUEL ONLY
BE-00-1700
A heavy gauge plastic label shall be provided with the words "DIESEL FUEL ONLY" engraved in capital letters. The label shall be attached to the apparatus adjacent to the fuel fill location.
One (1) CAST ALUM. DEF FILLER(S)/CHASSIS DEF TANK
BE-00-1600
The chassis manufacturer's Diesel Emission Fluid (DEF) filler neck shall be extended to the side of the apparatus body where a recessed cast aluminum housing shall be installed. The DEF line shall be properly secured and protected. It shall not be routed through the body compartments. Final installation shall meet FMVSS. The fill housing shall have a spring-loaded door.
One (1) ENGRAVED LABEL - DEF FLUID ONLY
BE-00-1715
A heavy gauge plastic label shall be provided with the words "DEF FLUID ONLY" engraved in capital letters. The label shall be attached to the apparatus adjacent to the fill location.
One (1) REAR STEP AND BUMPER ASSEMBLY
BF-05-0500
The rear bumper and step assembly shall extend the full width of the apparatus. The bumper structure shall be an extension of the steel chassis frame. The steel framework shall be constructed of 3" steel tubing. It shall be welded into one (1) unitized assembly, then bolted to the chassis frame for replacement, if necessary.
EVI PROPOSED SPECIFICATIONS January 8, 2024

EVI Experience and Qualifications
After several years of gaining valuable experience with a local First Aid and Rescue Squad, Ernst R. Temme decided that there was a definite need for specialized vehicles to meet the unique requirements of ambulances and first response vehicles.
Utilizing his "hands-on" experience, he founded an ambulance manufacturing facility in 1971 known as "Custom Ambulances of Florida, Inc." Rapid company growth required several expansions and in 1976 a new company called "EVF Inc." was formed. Ernst R. Temme became President and General Manager of EVF Inc. The company continued to grow and moved into a new facility in 1980. Ernst R. Temme was recognized by his peers and was elected President of the Ambulance Manufacturer's Association, and proudly served two terms. In 1988 the major shareholder of EVF Inc., having continual health problems, decided to retire. Since a qualified buyer could not be found, the decision was made to close the manufacturing facility.
Realizing the continued need of Custom Designed Vehicles, Mr. Temme and a few key personnel decided to continue to put their knowledge and experience to work. In April of 1988 "Emergency Vehicles, Inc." (EVI) was formed. This way, the past customers of EVF Inc. could be served and the well-established product could continue.
EVI obtained the rights to the product trademark, trade names, manufacturing specifications, testing data, certifications, engineering data and drawings. The decision was made to fine tune the already accepted product and to concentrate on the highly specialized RESCUE VEHICLE market. By positioning itself in this exclusive niche of the industry, EVI cemented its future and began construction on a brand new factory in January of 1999. EVI presently designs and manufactures a standard line of rescue vehicles, law enforcement vehicles, as well as "custom" and specialty mobile aluminum products. The company's 50,000 square foot facility is located in the industrial section of Lake Park, Florida.
In 2002 a decision was made to enter the Law Enforcement Market. EVI realized the need for specialized vehicles such as; Mobile Command Vehicles, SWAT Vehicles, Dive/Recovery Vehicles, Communications Vehicles, Surveillance Vehicles, etc. The law enforcement market has become a key component in EVIs growth and future success.
The combination of Fifty-three (53) Years industry experience in custom designing, and the strength of a proven product, gives the customer an unequaled opportunity to purchase a vehicle designed around his or her operation and needs... within budget.

Approach to Providing the Services
EVI (Emergency Vehicles, Inc.) has served the fire and rescue industry since 1971, custom designing, manufacturing, and placing into service emergency vehicles. We are recognized as a business with a SOLID reputation for integrity and ethics. Since being founded by Ernst R.
Temme, the company has expanded to its present status as one of the countrys premier emergency vehicle manufacturers. The company has a strong cultural dedication to maintaining the highest standards of excellence in craftsmanship, design and service.
EVI has met the delivery and budget requirements of our customers. Our vehicles have proved to be extremely reliable, and have exceeded the expectations of our customers. We have received numerous feedbacks regarding the quality of workmanship, ease of operation, and service provided.
We have a separate area in our facility to work in projects on an as needed basis. We have many neighboring departments that bring their units by for a modification or conversion without going through the scheduling process. EVI is currently working on remounts for the D.E.A. and all units have been delivered within the time specified, and in fact ahead of schedule.
EVI vehicles conform to the most recent edition of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 1901) Standard for Automotive Fire Apparatus.
Customer satisfaction has been the major contributor to EVIs growth. Our success is directly related to our philosophy of listening, having patience, and understanding the customers needs.
All engineering is Computer Aided Design (CAD). Up-to-date computerization is used to manage the manufacturing process as well. Each vehicle is put through an extensive quality control inspection prior to delivery. Our factory is located in Lake Park, Florida. See attached photograph of our facility and capabilities.
