On August 8th the Budget & Finance commission did not/could not vote on this item due to not enough information provided the time of the Commission meeting. The staff report was comparing Redondo ELECTED attorney salary to STAFF salaries of other Big cities (Council should have received a letter on Commission's behalf). However, looking at the current data and comparing apples to apples, such as elected attorney salaries in other cities, taken into consideration the size of those cities, etc... my recommendation is NOT to raise elected City Attorney salary and instead pay in accordance to what other cities are paying for their elected attorneys and lowering the base salary to $238K.

Also, this has nothing to do with our current attorney, but for the next elected attorney (mind you, elected officials cannot be held accountable and minimum requirements can qualify them to run for office; good sales skills can win them an office).

Respectfully,
Jasmine Allen, Budget & Finance Commissioner

In view of the massive obligation our city will be shouldering to renovate or reconstruct two fire stations and police stations via a bond, I think now is not the time for such a salary increase for the position of City Attorney. It would be fair for a new City Attorney to start at the current salary.

No. That is an obscene ask of us. Our city attorney rakes in more than half a million dollars a year when all of his compensation is added up. That's utterly ridiculous and completely out of line with every other elected city attorney in the state of California. Only ONE elected city attorney in the entire state has a higher compensation than ours. No.

How about ticketing vehicles that block the street sweeping operations by parking on driveway aprons and hanging out into the street? It prevents the sweeper from doing the job necessary to keep all the trash and debris out of the stormdrains and from ending up on the beach. I sent in photos before. Never got a response.
