A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING A FISCAL
YEAR 2024-2025 BUDGET MODIFICATION TO TRANSFER FIVE
HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS ($500,000) TO THE ARTESIA
BOULEVARD SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT, JOB NO.
41330 FROM THE AVIATION RESURFACING PROJECT, JOB
NO. 41440
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Council of Redondo Beach (“City Council”) to review the adopted budget from time to time; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redondo Beach’s adopted budget needs to be modified to appropriate monies from the City funds to fund necessary expenditures; and WHEREAS, on June 22, 2021, the City Council approved the Artesia Boulevard Safety Improvements Project, Job No. 41330 (the “Project”) as part of the 2021-26 Five Year Capital Improvement Program (“CIP”); and
WHEREAS, on July 9, 2024, the City Council approved the plans and specifications for the Project and authorized the City Clerk to advertise the Project for competitive bids; and WHEREAS, on August 22, 2024, bids for the Project were received and publicly opened at the City Clerk’s Office; and
WHEREAS, the lowest and responsible bidder for the contract was Calpromax Engineering, Inc., a California corporation (the “Contractor”), with a bid amount of $1,041,335; and
WHEREAS, the current budgeted amount for this Project is $666,335; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Administrative Policy/Procedures (“APP”) 14.1, the City of Redondo Beach (the “City”) may appropriate additional funds the greater of ten percent of the contract amount or $125,000 to cover a contingency; and WHEREAS, the amount of $500,000 is needed to fully fund the Project, including any contingency; and
WHEREAS, the total Project cost, including the potential contingency is estimated at $1,166,335 of which $666,335 has already been allocated; and WHEREAS, there are available funds in the Aviation Boulevard Resurfacing Project to cover the certain costs and the potential contingency for the Project; and WHEREAS, the City desires to transfer the available funds from the Aviation Boulevard Resurfacing Project to the Artesia Boulevard Safety Improvements Project to cover the budget shortfall and potential contingencies.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The amounts allocated in the 2024-2029 Five-Year Capital Improvement Program Budget, together with the amounts required to meet conditions arising during the budget year, require a modification in the budget appropriations; and upon recommendation of the City Manager, the budget appropriation as adopted for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 is modified as follows:
A total of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) from the Aviation Resurfacing Project, Job. No 41440 shall be appropriated to the Artesia Boulevard Safety Improvements Project, Job No. 41330.
SECTION 2. Pursuant to Section 11(f) of the City Charter, the City Clerk is hereby directed to correct the budget records of said City Fiscal Year 2024-2025 in accordance with the above modification.
SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the City Council.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and shall enter the same in the Book of Original Resolutions.
