I am opposed to cannabis dispensaries in Redondo Beach and urge the city council to pause all cannabis activity until safe product testing is in place, followed by implementing a delivery-only model to prevent the normalization of cannabis use for our youth.

I do not want Redondo Beach with our award-winning RBUSD "best school district in Los Angeles" to be the only beach city with storefront dispensaries. I respectfully request that Councilmembers Nehrenheim and Obagi recuse themselves from voting due to accepting monies from the cannabis industry.

As a resident and parent of two high schoolers in the RBUSD district and an active PTA member I am opposed to store front cannabis dispensaries in Redondo Beach. As all other beach cities, we should only accept a “delivery-only model” and not normalize cannabis use for our youth. Redondo should not be the only beach city with storefront dispensaries. I respectfully request that any council members who have accepted funding from the cannabis industry recuse themselves from voting. Thank you.

As a parent of RUHS and a proud resident of the best school district of LA, I urge the council members to stop, and not neutralize cannabis by approving storefront dispensaries. As all other beach cities, we should only accept a “delivery-only model” and not normalize cannabis use for our youth. Redondo should not be the only beach city with storefront dispensaries.

There are several studies that prove that early exposure to Canabis by the youth, school age, increase use.

Studies also show how the child brain is fully developing until age 25 therefore cannabis consumption before this is age is a risk.

We don’t want to incentive youth to consume cannabis by putting storefronts in front of school age kids. We want to keep our amazing city and school district achievements so I share that I strongly oppose to storefronts.

I would also like to respectfully ask that any council member that received monies from the cannabis families, recuse themselves from voting.

Thank you.

I am also opposed to cannabis dispensaries in Redondo Beach. I urge the city council to pause all cannabis activity until safe product testing is in place. It would be best to have a delivery-only model so as to slowdown the normalization of cannabis use for our youth. Our neighboring beach cities do not allow dispensaries so that if you allow this Redondo will be the only beach city with storefront dispensaries. This has been a great city to raise my kids in. We have great schools, lots of family friendly activities and a family vibe. I don't think that dispensaries and cannabis cafes are going to add to that. I respectfully request that any councilmembers who have accepted funding from the cannabis industry recuse themselves from voting.

As a resident and parent of 2 children in Redondo Beach, I am asking council to approve a cannibis delivery only model. I’m worried for the children of RB.

I’m worried that though cannibis is legal in CA, that RB will be the only beach city with dispensaries and the message we will be sending kids which is that it’s ok for them to use cannibis.

We have an award winning school district with great kids. We have to think about what is best for them.

Im asking Councilmembers Obagi and Nehrenheim to recuse themselves as they have received money from cannnabis companies and therefore have a conflict of interest.

I’m also asking council to discuss and pass an ordinance to limit the amount of smoke shops on Artesia and other areas of the city. We have something that limits the amount of massage parlors we can have on Artesia, and I think the same has to be implemented for smoke shops. People can go into the smoke shops and purchase illegal cannibis products. By minimizing the undesirable businesses like smoke shops, we can attract diverse businesses and send the message that RB is a city that values and wants the best for its residents! Tijen Loubert

First and foremost, Councilmembers Obaji and Nehrenheim should recuse themselves from cannabis ordinance voting as they have both received campaign donations from the cannabis industry and therefore have a clear conflict of interest.

I strongly oppose an ordinance to allow cannabis dispensaries in Redondo Beach. We were just recognized as the best school district in Los Angeles and it’s crucial to keep our city as a destination district. A key to that is to ensure our children are not normalized to cannabis by keeping dispensaries out of Redondo Beach. El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, and Palos Verdes have all voted "no" on dispensaries. Please do not vote to have Redondo become the only South Bay city that puts the welfare of our kids behind the interests of the cannabis industry.

I am urging a "delivery-only" model, which is what Hermosa Beach has in place and no storefront dispensaries that normalize cannabis use for our kids. Cannabis is so dangerous for our youth and studies show that the more exposure elementary and middle school aged children have to cannabis advertising and dispensaries, the likelihood of early abuse is exponential. Cannabis impacting the critical window of teen neurodevelopment, cardiovascular, mental, and social health, and academic success. As parent, former Tulita PTA President, and resident, I am urging you to do all that can be done to prevent the normalization of cannabis use for kids and strongly oppose any legislation allowing for store-front dispensaries.

Thank you.
