A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE STATE
OF CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF TRAFFIC SAFETY (OTS)
SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT PROGRAM (STEP)
GRANT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE OTS AND THE CITY
OF REDONDO BEACH, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
WHEREAS, the City of Redondo Beach (“City”) was awarded a grant from the State of California Office of Traffic Safety (“OTS”) for the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) in the amount of $160,000; and,
WHEREAS, the STEP grant funds will be made available to the City for the period of October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has approved the receipt of past grant funding for similar police programs; and,
WHEREAS, the City Police Department shall use the monies to support frontline police services directly involved in the enforcement of traffic laws as approved by the funding authority; and,
WHEREAS, OTS requires that the City Council adopt a resolution approving the STEP Grant Agreement and authorizing the Mayor to execute the agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City of Redondo Beach approves the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 State of California Office of Traffic Safety Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP) Grant Agreement between the Office of Traffic Safety and the City of Redondo Beach, attached hereto as Exhibit A, and authorizes the Mayor to execute the grant agreement on behalf of the City of Redondo Beach.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and shall enter the same in the Book of Original Resolutions.
