A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, APPOINTING AN
ADVISORY BOARD IN CONNECTION WITH THE RIVIERA
VILLAGE BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT AND
DIRECTING THE PREPARATION OF A REPORT FOR
CALENDAR YEAR 2025
WHEREAS, the Parking and Business Improvement Area Law of 1989, California Streets and Highways Code Sections 36500 et seq., (the "Law''), authorizes the Redondo Beach City Council to establish a business improvement district and to levy an assessment against businesses within such business improvement district which is in addition to any assessments, fees, charges, or taxes imposed in the City; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Law, by its Ordinance No. 2922-03 the City Council established the Riviera Village Business Improvement District (the "District") in the City of Redondo Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City Council is undertaking proceedings to levy an assessment against businesses within the District for the BID Calendar Year 2025 (commencing January 1, 2025, and ending December 31, 2025); and
WHEREAS, the Law requires the City Council to appoint an advisory board which shall make recommendations to the City Council on the expenditure of revenues derived from the levy of assessments, on the classification of businesses, as applicable, and on the method and basis of levying the assessments against businesses within the District.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDONDO BEACH, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 36530 of the Law, the City Council hereby appoints the Board of Directors of the Riviera Village Association, a non-profit California corporation, to serve as the Advisory Board for the District (the "Advisory Board").
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby directs the Advisory Board to prepare and file with the City Clerk, in accordance with Section 36533 of the Law, a report for Calendar Year 2025 in connection with the proposed levy of an assessment against businesses within the District for Calendar Year 2025.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and shall enter the same in the Book of Original Resolutions.
