HUNT DESIGN
July 23, 2024
City of Redondo Beach
Attention: City Manager' s Office
cc: Ronald Maroko

PROPOSAL FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN CONSULTATION SERVICES
Project: Redondo Beach Path of History Markers- 2024
Hunt Design is pleased to submit this proposal for the purposes of continuing the development of historic site interpretive signage for the Path of History Program originally designed for the City by Hunt Design. This is a design only contract for the graphic design layout of additional Path of History markers. All detail drawings have been completed and will be used from the original design package. Hunt Design will design new layouts, and submit to the City to handle the fabrication once the budgets allow.

Scope of Work— Services
Hunt Design will provide the following services:

1. Phase 1 - Conceptual Design

1. Using historical information provided by the City, develop preliminary design concepts for the next Historical markers in the series.

2. Present to the City for comments. Revise the design if necessary to accommodate suggestions brought forth by the City. Develop an implementation cost estimate.

3. Develop into final design reflecting actual wording, photos and visual content.

Work Products: Visual presentations necessary to demonstrate design; implementation cost estimate.

2. Phase 2- Production Design

1. Prep the high resolution digital art files for release to a fabricator.

2. Send to City of Redondo Beach for a final proofread and sign off.

3. Send final art files to the chosen fabricator and coordinate fabrication details with the selected sign vendor so the final product matches any Path of History Markers done prior to 2024.

4. Respond to fabricator RFIs and clarification requests.

5. Review shop drawings and samples provided by fabricator.

Work Products: Final production art files for fabrication.

Fees
In return, Hunt Design Associates is to be paid on a per panel basis of$ 1, 700.

These fees are based approximately on estimated professional staff hours multiplied by standard hourly billing rates:

Principal, $ 185; Design, $ 155; Detailing and Production, $ 120.

Assumptions
All content and photos will be supplied by the City of Redondo Beach.

Any photo acquisition will be handled by the City of Redondo Beach.

All hours will be allocated to design and production. Hunt Design will review color samples for the first two, fully-funded signs. After that point, Hunt Design will allocate all time to design and production of more layouts.

Exclusions
Fabrication of the signs.

Structural engineering.
t
f HUNT DESIGN
Detail drawings.

Stock photography license fees
Custom illustration or photography
Additional services resulting from changes to the design after City approval.

Expenses
All expenses incurred in connection with this project will be billed at cost. Normal expenses include: color prints, computer imagery charges, FedEx and other normal reproduction charges. In- house color printing is typically charged at$ 2 per page up to 11" x17." We do not anticipate any reimbursable expenses unless requested by the City, such as a paper mock-up.

Terms
Upon design completion of each Path of History Marker, Hunt Design will invoice the City reflecting the number of panels completed, plus expenses, and will be submitted for payment. Since the City needs to still raise funds to actually fabricate and install the signage, "design completion" shall be defined as each graphic design, including all final photos and copy, completed and approved by the City project team. Each completed design will then be in the hands of the City to fabricate. Invoices shall be paid within thirty( 30) days of receipt.

Conditions
Revisions and Additions: This proposal covers only the services outlined. If the scope of work changes, approved revisions or additions will be charged for on an hourly basis, and as an addition to the original contract.

Termination of Contract: Assuming just cause, either party reserves the right to terminate this agreement after giving ten ( 10) days written notice to the other. Hunt Design Associates shall be paid for services and reimbursable expenses incurred under this contract up to the date of such termination.

Cash Flow and Timely Payments: Timely and regular payments of Hunt Design Associates invoices are required for continuous work on the project.

Sequence of Work.'The fees stated above are based on executing the project or large project portions as a group or groups. That is, items added out of sequence or after general approvals of areas or phases, may be considered as extra to the contract.

Limit of Quantity of Designs: A reasonable quantity of design solutions for individual elements will be developed for review. Excessive or unreasonable requests for redesign or additional design options may result in additional design fees.

Originality: All reasonable care will be taken to avoid accidental duplication of graphic designs already in existence, but responsibility and matters of registration, trademarking, copyrighting, rest with the owner.

Best Effort Basis: The creative services described above will be provided on a" best effort" basis. That is, Hunt Design Associates will create designs based on our training, experience and professional judgment and that represent our best effort; non- acceptance of the design( s) shall not constitute reason for nonpayment.

Extended Schedule: The fees stated above are based upon the described project schedule of completion no later than one full calendar year from the project start date. Restarting the project after an inactive period is difficult for management of the contract and project. Delays in the overall project schedule beyond that date, may result in additional fees.

Publicity: Hunt Design Associates reserves the right of reasonable publicity about its participation in this project.

Design Credit: Hunt Design is to be listed in display and publication of project credits when practical. We do not however, require our firm name be printed as part of the physical panels themselves. 43 ; ,, i., ad. Blvd _ - HUNT DESIGN
