The Honorable Scott Wiener
California State Senate
455 Golden Gate Ave #14800
San Francisco, CA 94102
Dear Senator Wiener,
The Mayor and City Council of the City of Redondo Beach would like to express our opposition to Senate Bill 71 (SB 71) which you introduced on January 14, 2025.

SB 71 would erode the ability of local jurisdictions to oppose projects that would have lasting negative impacts on our community members and the environment. The City of Redondo Beach is in favor of increasing access to public transportation, provided the impacts do not destroy the quality of life for the residents living in close proximity to these proposed projects.

The Mayor and City Council of the City of Redondo Beach stand in opposition to SB 71 and request that you reconsider permanently memorializing the California Environmental Quality Act exemptions granted under Senate Bill 288 and invite the opportunity to discuss our position with you further.

Sincerely,
(Mayor and Council Signatures, as desired)
