APPROVE AN AGREEMENT WITH OM ROOFING, INC. TO REPLACE THE ROOF AT THE VETERANS PARK HISTORIC LIBRARY FOR AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $216,807
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The roof at the Veterans Park Historic Library has been in place for over 20 years and is in need of replacement due to its deteriorated condition. The recommended Agreement with OM Roofing, Inc. of Cerritos, CA, would provide all labor and materials needed to replace the roof for a total not to exceed cost of $216,807.
BACKGROUND
The roof at the Veterans Park Historic Library is over 20 years old and has exceeded its useful lifespan. Replacement of both the built-up, hot roof and decorative tile section is needed at this time to ensure the facility can continue to withstand the challenging coastal environment. Staff obtained proposals from the following companies to provide the labor and materials needed to perform the roof replacement:
· Avalon Roofing: $259,000
· OM Roofing: $169,540
· Letner Roofing Co: $165,000
The proposal submitted by OM Roofing, Inc. included the best combination of qualifications, experience, and pricing. The company has extensive experience delivering the services desired and recently did an excellent job in replacing the roof at the Police Pier Substation. The company will provide all labor, materials, and equipment needed to perform the roof replacement, along with the required Performance and Payment Bonds, for a total not to exceed amount of $216,807, including a 20% contingency.
COORDINATION
The Public Works Department coordinated the report. The City Attorney’s Office prepared the Agreement.
FISCAL IMPACT
The cost to replace the roof at the Veterans Park Historic Library will not exceed $216,807. Funding for the work is available in the Veterans Park Historic Library Improvements Project account.
