I didn'tmake the 3:00 deadline, but I am also going to speak here, so please put this in the appropriate place.

Good evening, Mr Mayor, Council members and staff.

I want to talk about parking and Artesia again.

First, I would like to know when you took your parking survey; and which (if any ) stores were vacant at the time. Recall, also we turned part of the Edison Right of way into parking.,because there was NOT enough parking.

Second, I want to talk about Gocery Outlet. None of you council members were on the council when Albertson's closed and we were without a Grocery store for3-4years. I can remember every District 5 meeting starting with "Have you foound a new grocery store for us." This was in both District 4 and District 5; the store is on the boundary.

The answer was always "not yet." (South Redondo had lost two grocery stores at the same time, but then-Mayor Aspel found tenants for those: Smart and FInal. ) In North Redondo, we had nothing. Part of the problem was the store was a little smaller than what many grocery stores wanted,. But , as I remember, the biggest problem was the out-ot-town landlord who was content to have an empty store; because he/she was hoping the store would be zoned mixed use, and the landlord wanted to sell if tor more.
(I believe part of the time, the landlord was stil collecting rent.) Thank goodness the city did NOT zone it "mixed use" or we would have never gotten a grocery store.

But now I am worried again.

If you "upzone" it, and require no parking, is the landlord goiong to find a more lucrative tenant? We in North Redondo do not want a "lucrative tenant" We want our grocery store.
