City Council,

Item: H.17. Regulations of Commissions
The new qualifications include:
(c) One member shall be a person who lives adjacent to, but at least 500 feet outside of, the jurisdiction of the Commission. This person shall not be a sailboat or powerboat owner, or a member of any commercial harbor/pier association.

This is a fine intention but a fairly restrictive sliver of geography. (It does not define ‘adjacent’).

It would be a shame if we had to bypass an otherwise highly qualified candidate because they did not fit one of these specific qualifications.

I recommend that we change “shall” to “may” or “to the maximum extent feasible”.
