Thank you for reaching out to us. As we resurface Kingsdale, we are addressing the following issues:
1. Left-turn movements at Kingsdale/Grant are currently not aligned with each other, which is not great for visibility. The southbound through lane on Kingsdale currently runs right into the parking lane. We are creating a dedicated northbound left-turn lane from Kingsdale to Grant so that through traffic doesn't get stuck behind left-turns, and the left-turn movements are facing each other like a conventional intersection. While this requires removing a few spaces on southbound Kingsdale, it improves visibility and safety for those left-turns, allows through traffic to not swerve to hit parked cars, and reduce congestion.

At Kingsdale/177'/Target, the current signal does not allow both directions of Kingdale to go at the same time. This creates long queues and congestion since the signal is not efficient. In order to make the signal more efficient and reduce congestion, we are also creating left-turn lanes at the intersection. While this removes two spaces, it makes the intersection more conventional and allow both directions of Kingdale to be green at the same time. We are also creating wider lanes for through traffic since buses travel on Kingdale every few minutes throughout the day, which gives more breathing room for bus traffic between the lane and the parked cars along the single-family homes.
