BACKGROUND
2011
Public Art Commission selected “Gate Wave” from initial 60 submissions to be installed at new Transit Center.
City Council approved “Gate Wave” and a budget of $75,000 from dedicated Prop C Local Return Funds. 2017
Transit Center design finalized; sculpture cost increased to $275,000 due to labor and material cost increases. 2021
Transit Center nears completion, final design moves artwork behind building.
City Council directs staff to find a new location, allocates $200,000 additional. 2024
City Council approves Public Art Commission recommendation for Gateway Parkette as new location, completes total funding of $275,000 from John Parsons Public Art Fund. 2024-2025
Verified structural suitability of Parkette and myriad easements and utilities with Denn Engineering survey and underground imaging.

Planning & Permit Process Obtain all required building permits. February 13, 2026 Fabrication Period Purchase of materials; cutting, fabrication, painting, and finishing. May 22, 2026
Site Preparation
Install foundation for artwork per site survey, final design, and engineering specs. Coordinate traffic control with City as needed.
May 29, 2026
Installation Period Install artwork and coordinate any required traffic control with the City. June 5, 2026
Inspection & Approval City inspection and acceptance of artwork. June 12, 2026 Documentation Submission Submit all required documentation under Article 2 of the Agreement. June 12, 2026
Dedication Participate in City’s dedication ceremony. June 2026
