I would like to thank our new PD chief and city manager, along with fellow resident Darryl Boyd for bringing renewed focus to safety on the 500-600 N Prospect frontage. The Chief and City Manager have provided twice a day enforcement support for speeding, illegal turns, wrong way drivers, and other hazardous activity on the frontage and on "big" Prospect. We appreciate the Chief and City Manager's leadership and the officers that have been our feet on the street.

Following the child predator investigation notification from LA County in the area of the bus bench; and with current late night non-transit use increasing with 2AM youth; we continue to recommend extending the red curb by an additional 10 to 20 feet to protect the bus stop's visibility from the residential side. Caltrans's report on Best Practices to Improve Transit Operations and Safety clearly states that increasing visibility into bus stops is a lowcost, high impact action to improve safety and reduce crime. LA City has provided similar findings. A little red curb paint will go a long way to maintaining visibility and improving bus bench area safety.

Speaking of red curbs, recently we've have cars parked in the daylighting red zone for no obvious reason, since the street had at least 50 open and legal spots available at the time, no more than 20 feet from the illegal parking.

Thanks to the city for its enforcement and continued enforcement.

We urge the Mayor and City Council to honor the survey results and the will of Redondo Beach residents. Fiftyfive percent of residents said no to retail cannabis dispensaries.

Support for dispensaries has largely come from individuals with financial ties to the cannabis industry.

High-potency cannabis is harmful to youth. California data shows that retail dispensaries normalize youth use, and the California Department of Public Health reports a 30% increase in youth use where storefronts exist.

Respect residents’ voices and use the survey results to stop efforts to place retail cannabis dispensaries in Redondo Beach.

It has been the wise approach for Redondo to take time to consider this issue of what is the most responsible decision for its residents. Redondo has had the benefit of hindsight in allowing pioneering cities to explore the experiment of legalizing cannabis and based upon the survey the residents have understood that its is not a good fit for the city to allow commercial cannabis businesses to operate within the city. The state continues to significantly struggle in administering and enforcing the program in an effective manner that prioritizes public health and safety and has failed to uphold a thriving legal market. As evidenced by the ongoing safety testing scandal, and multi year over year decrease in licensed operators and tax revenues. Similarly numerous local governments who had hoped for financial benefits have now had to pivot to support the struggling industry as evidence by numerous cities such as San Francisco who has chosen to indefinitely suspend any local tax and even worse Los Angeles which is now facing the reality that they will never be able to collect the over $400M in tax revenues owed to the city by it’s cannabis operators. Since the beginning I have advocated that we consider what is the most responsible approach to regulating cannabis within the city and its more clear today than ever that the only responsible choice is to listen to the will of the people and stop all progress in the allowance of cannabis operations within the city. I am grateful to the city council and staff that has invested the significant time considering the issue I strongly support the result of the survey where the majority of residents have voted against allowing cannabis and I strongly urge you to listen to the will of the people as represented in the survey and not allow any cannabis operations in the city.

Please listen to the will of YOUR residents
Fifty-five percent (55%) of residents said NO to cannabis retail stores in Redondo Beach. Please respect the clearly expressed wishes of the community. This was a city-supported survey intended to guide decision-making, and residents participated in good faith with the expectation that their voices would matter. Those in favor have seemed to have financial benefit of dispensaries coming to redondo! Ignoring the results undermines public trust and discourages future civic engagement. When a majority of residents oppose the introduction of a new commercial industry, the responsible and transparent course of action is to honor that outcome.

I urge the City Council and Mayor to support the results of this survey and align with the will of Redondo Beach residents. Thank you to the City Council for conducting this survey and giving residents an opportunity to be heard.

I urge the city council and mayor to SUPPORT the results of the survey snd the will of Redondo Beach residents.

Thank you to our city council for supporting a survey to assess whether residents wanted retail cannabis dispensaries in Redondo beach. 55% have said “no”.

Over the last year, a large contingency of parents and community members have relentlessly shared peer-review data, fact and personal experiences with regards to youth cannabis use. On average, 78 residents submitted ecomments and 13 speakers advocated against retail cannabis at every meeting where cannabis was on the agenda for discussion.

The groups supporting retail dispensaries include individuals representing the cannabis industry, residents consulting or those with direct financial ties to the cannabis industry.

High potency cannabis is harmful for our youth and 2025 data from CA cities clearly demonstrates that retail cannabis dispensaries normalize youth use and the CA department of public health has stated that youth use increases by 30% with retail storefronts.

To date, the CA Department of Cannabis Control has yet to address the issue with contaminated products (pesticides, heavy metals, fentanyl) and recently the city of Los Angeles proposed forgiving all unpaid tax revenue due to the steadily declining profits of the CA Cannabis industry.

Please listen to the residents and use the results of this survey to stop all efforts to put two retail cannabis dispensaries in our city.
